Often mistaken for "Pluto", Platō Coffee takes its name — and its spirit — from the great Ancient Greek philosopher. Founded by brothers Stephan and Petrus Bredell, the name is a fitting one: in ancient Greece people gathered to philosophise about life, and today our best conversations still happen over a good cup of coffee. That love of learning lives on in their Academy — a coffee school of barista training and brewing courses through which they educate and empower people through coffee. What began as a side hustle in 2019 has since grown into 140-plus cafés across South Africa and counting, making Platō part of the daily ritual for South Africans countrywide.
