Coffee snobs for the planet

Founded in Cape Town by brothers Dan and Oli, and their cousin Lulu, 4WKS was born from a shared obsession with coffee and Nature. We believe convenient coffee shouldn’t cost the Earth – and that, as it is in Nature, waste should never be wasted.

In 2019, we set about using something as small as a pod and as daily as your morning cuppa to shift a broken system: Billions of plastic and aluminium single-serve capsules filled with sub-par coffee that, once enjoyed, meet their 500+-year destiny in landfills.

Believing that fresh coffee is the best coffee

With four weeks (4WKS) as the ideal flavour window from roast to shot – and inspired by an apple core that begins breaking down in the same time, we launched 4WKS home-compostable pods to make freshly roasted coffee from our favourite roasters available at the push of a button.

To close the loop, we created a compostable pouch to keep pods fresh and a simple way to return used pods for composting, supported by a network of collection points, to ensure our pods (and drip bags) end up where they’re meant to: back to Earth.

We’re invested in how the story ends

Because, at its core, 4WKS is about more than coffee… It is built on our vision and belief that a better world can be built through better habits, in paying attention to how things are made and where they land up, and how, by working together, small acts add up to big change.

Thanks for shifting with us, 4WKS at a time.

Perfectly imperfect and always evolving

We make coffee pods and drip bags for coffee snobs, planet lovers, and keen beans.
For people who think it’s cool to care.
Call us earnest, dreamers, or even a little “crunchy”. We’re for Bold Hope, optimism and giving it a good ol ‘go!
We won’t get it right all the time, but believe it’s worth trying.
Little wins add up, and our pods have mega potential for the planet.
Have a coffee, and give a damn.
