Locally Roasted: Home to SA’s Finest Roasts.
South Africa’s coffee scene has exploded into a vibrant community of world-class roasteries. At 4WKS, we are home to the country's best coffee – available in our compostable pods and now in drip bags.

We’ve partnered with 8 local roasters to make their freshly roasted coffees available to coffee lovers around the country. From dark to light roasts, here is a quick guide to the 4WKS collective. Locally roasted, freshly packed, planet approved.

Bluebird Coffee Roastery: Hailing from the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands and recently awarded Roastery of the Year by The Coffee Magazine, Bluebird focuses on lighter roasts that highlight the bean’s natural fruitiness. Expect delicate notes of berries, florals, and stone fruit. Perfect for the black coffee drinker. Their State of Mind Blend and Burundi Single Origin are available to enjoy in both pods and drip bags here.

Bootlegger Coffee Co.: What started as three best friends in Cape Town has grown into a national phenomenon. With over 80 cafés nationwide, they understand the South African palate intimately. Bold, consistent, and energetic, Bootlegger is famous for a reason. Their blends are medium-to-dark, nutty, and reliable. Need a kick to start the day? This is your go-to. Their Dark Roast and House Blend are available to enjoy in pods and drip bags here.

Deluxe Coffeeworks: The "rockstars" of the Cape Town bean scene, Deluxe built their reputation on the "no-nonsense" cup. No pretentiousness; just great coffee. Deluxe focuses on making quality coffee accessible to everyone. Their House Blend is legendary – robust, chocolatey, and crowd-pleasing. Their House Blend and Colombian Decaf are available in pods and drip bags here.

Platō Coffee: Community, kindness, and connection – Platō is more than a national café chain; it’s a space for connection. Inspired by the ancient Greek philosopher, their brand is built on the idea that a cup of coffee can be a catalyst for a better world. Their coffee reflects their ethos: it’s smooth, sweet, and comforting. Like a warm hug in a mug. Two different roasts are available for pods and drip bags here.

Rosetta Roastery: A multi-year "Roastery of the Year" winner (2018, 2019, 2023), Rosetta is a local Cape Town favourite. Their philosophy is "terroir-driven": treating coffee like fine wine by focusing on acidity and complexity. If you want to taste jasmine, citrus, or earl grey in your cup, Rosetta is the masterclass. Their progressive Ethiopian Lalesa is available in pods, and two progressive Kenyan and Ethiopian roasts are available in drip bags here.

Seattle Coffee Co.: As the pioneers of the South African coffee-to-go movement, Seattle has been part of our national fabric for decades, providing a familiar, world-class standard. Expect to taste a full-bodied nuttiness in their Classic Blend. Available to enjoy in pods here and in our 4WKS Everyday & Big Kick drip bag mixes here.

Truth Coffee: Voted "Best Coffee Shop in the World" by numerous international publications, Truth is known for more than just their steampunk aesthetic. They focus on "The Joy of Coffee" through meticulous roasting techniques. Expect flavours of milk chocolate and walnuts. This blend was developed to be easy-drinking and versatile. Their Relativity Blend is available to enjoy in pods here and in their drip bags are available in our 4WKS Specialty Mix here.
